When will the local municipality realise how dangerous the position of the taxi rank is in central Ballito?
I have personally experienced two near accidents caused by pedestrians running in front of me as I passed by the taxi rank. Pedestrians do not realise how busy that road is and simply cross the road from behind taxi vans unaware of approaching traffic.
On one occasion the man came running across the road and actually touched my car. Luckily I was able to avoid injuring anyone by stopping suddenly. Luckily there was no one behind me otherwise I would have had someone hitting me from behind.
Is the delay in moving the taxi rank to the originally planned position opposite the new MacDonalds due to vested interests by the owners of the taxis or what?
I say to the person(s) delaying this move: “It will be your fault when a taxi commuter is injured or killed by a car in front of the existing rank, and let that be on your conscience”. This tragedy is going to happen sooner or later.
