I would just like to say I am so proud of my family of six who pulled together to save lots of water this past month.
This time last year our average usage was 29 kl. In June it was 22 kl and in July we managed to drop it to 8 kl. That’s a saving of 14 000 litres of water! That equates to about 44 litres per person per day to bath in, flush, drink, cook and wash clothes with.
All we did was shower standing in a tub. Water on to get wet, off to soap up and on again to rinse and use that water for washing the floors and flushing the loo. I took the cistern lid off and we flush and top up straight away.
We also connected or washing machine which uses 146 litres per large cycle to a 500 litre JoJo tank and we only do four loads a week. The water gets drained into the tank and recycled back into the machine by bucket. At the end of the week that water goes on the lawn.
It just goes to show that nothing is impossible and if we all just try we can do it!
