I no longer know what else to do other than to write this letter in the hope that it gets printed and the “Powers that Be” take cognizance and do something before it is too late.
I am relating to the pedestrians and traffic at the Tiffany’s intersection. In the past three years we have lost two of our dedicated employees, who have died as a direct result of the chaos due to the lack of proper public safety measures in place.
It does not only impact the lives of the people who have just lost a loved one, but it greatly affects the life of the driver, who is responsible for taking a life.
I live in Fox Hill and have watched it grow, along with increase in traffic in the past few years. This is due to the popularity of Sage, and Litchi Orchard. Then there is Linc Church, Eden Village, Sizani School, not to mention all the new houses that have sprung up.
Trying to manoeuvre safely around the children, the potholes and traffic in the morning and afternoon is a nightmare. I have phoned Sizani School a number of times requesting they put teachers or prefects on duty there to make sure the children walk on the pavement side and not three abreast on the side of the Sasol garage. What about another scholar patrol?
Then there is the issue in the evenings, when you have loads of people trying to catch taxis or trying to get across the road to go to Tiffany’s. Having traffic police there on duty in the morning and evening directing the traffic is a huge help, but it does not solve the issue of all of the pedestrians.
Please, I am begging, something needs to be done to ensure the safety of all using the roads before another life is lost.
