2015 has been a phenomenal year for Ashton on the sports fields, academically and spiritually. We have had students represent us in various sporting and cultural codes on the regional, national and international platforms. Without the support of our parents, grandparents, staff and wider community, many of these events would not have been so successful.
To the many businesses that sponsored any event or any student, you made a difference. Particular thanks to Bruce and Paul Rencken for the superb sponsorship of sports equipment and first team kits.
A memorable day for Ashton was when Angus Buchan came to Ashton to pray with our community for rain – we were able to open our gates to hundreds of farmers, friends and of course our own family – thank you for standing united.
To the Ashton rhino warriors, Miss Joosten, Gwen Isaacs, Byron Latham, Katelyn Baird and Dane Janse van Rensburg, students and parents who so generously supported our “Save the Rhino” project, we salute you.
Mrs Clewlow and the Teddiebear knitting team for the hundreds of blankets and beanies as well as jerseys for orphans, first time single mothers; our Ashlings who participated in the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund Soup and Sox Collection; The Foundation Phase for collecting tinned food for the SPCA; every student who participated in the Reach for a Dream “Slipper Day” – you all made a difference in someone’s life.
Then finally to the media whom we take for granted, thank you for sharing our articles and photographs with the readers where we can highlight our students’ everyday achievements, successes and acts of kindness with the wider community and raise awareness for the various social responsibility programmes. Students living and learning the Ashton Way.
We would like to take this opportunity of wishing the Dolphin Coast community a Blessed Christmas.
