I want to use the medium of this local paper to thank Mr Vivian Reddy and show our appreciation for his contribution to uplift KwaDukuza .
There are many big businesses in KwaDukuza that don’t re-invest to improve the lives of the poor but rather enrich themselves and when someone comes around to invest, a few get peeved .
Mr Vivian Reddy is a kind-hearted businessman who is keen to invest and change the face of Stanger from stagnant town to city status. He has invested in education, child welfare, a multi-skilled centre and now a massive mall that would create over 3000 jobs. Also a sporting complex is in the pipeline which will take sports to another level in Ilembe.
My question to all those against the mall shopping complex: Why were you silent when Mr Reddy donated those millions towards child welfare, education and a skills centre? Now when he wants to create over 3000 jobs, a small group of concerned residents want to sabotage progress. You should support the mall so we can say we live in a city where people will be employed .
I will be lobbying for Mr Reddy to get the freedom of this town and Mahatma Gandhi Street to be renamed Vivian Reddy Street, for the financial contributions he has made to this town and improving the lives of the poor. Mahatma Gandhi contributed nothing to this town, therefore he does not deserve any recognition. The Mahatma Gandhi statue should be moved to the bird sanctuary. Inkosi Albert Luthuli Street, Gizenga Street, King Shaka Street and Vivian Reddy Street will give you an historical square with past and present history .
If you care for the destitute and are God fearing, you will support the mall because it’s the poor heart that never rejoices.
