Working hard to ease traffic

In response to Tanya Nel’s letter regarding the traffic congestion at Ashton (Suggest an alternate entrance to Ashton, Courier, April 29), we are fully aware of the situation.
Unfortunately, the school was part of the Seaward development and opened its doors in 2002. The growth in Ballito has been phenomenal, and so has the growth of Ashton. Currently management are developing additional parking and fields as well as a second drop-and-go zone on the newly acquired land on the opposite side of the M4. This additional parking facility and drop-and-go area, will alleviate some of the congestion.
Ashton management negotiated the repair of the wash-away along the M4 with the national roads department who have worked tirelessly to repair the damage and make it safe for students to access the school through the culvert. We are extremely grateful to the department, as well as the traffic department who assist with the flow of traffic in the morning.
Completion date is expected to be end of July, and in the meantime we thank the community for their patience and encourage people to be courteous.
As a guideline – starting times are 07h25 and 07h40 and finishing times are 12h30, 14h00 and 14h30.
