Thinking out of the box

Between the suburbs of Waterfall and Hillcrest, a huge new shopping centre has been built. In its basement parking garage is a taxi rank and the commuters can not only have a protected venue out of the weather to wait for transport, but can easily zap upstairs and shop at the two supermarkets and many other shops above.
Were our three shopping centres to think out of the box like this, they would benefit from the buying power of the many taxi commuters. Why, after all, should only people who come by car be offered parking at a shopping centre?
In my opinion, town planners should insist on taxi parking being made available to all patrons who shop there. After all its compulsory to provide parking for the disabled and the abled, why not the wonderful workers who contribute so meaningfully to our economy? If shopping centres could provide taxi parking on roofs or in basements it would be a win-win situation for everyone. Think about it.
