LETTERS: Bunch of comedians doing the planning

Having read The North Coast Courier today there are three matters which give rise to consideration and should be addressed:
Colin Marsh given the boot: Who actually chooses the DA candidates, as none of the DA members that I know were ever approached to discuss this matter? Factually Tammy Colley may well be a good choice, but had the ANC done this there would have been shouts of nepotism from the opposition. I consider that as a voting DA member, all the DA voters have a right to select the person that they considered most appropriate, and not have Ann MacDonnell’s daughter pushed on to them in this manner.
Open letter to the DA in Ballito – Riaan Verster: We residents of Ballito have been living with ruins, collapsing buildings and half-finished buildings for years and nothing has been done by the ANC, now considered the African National Comedians.
• The ruins of the old Dolphin Coast Mall (renamed the Ricardo Mthembu Memorial Building);
• The Big Blue building in the Old Village area which has been a ruin and derelict for years;
• The Kwadukuza Municipality offices behind the BP filling station were allegedly to be refurbished and is now a ruin and a home for vagrants. KDM could not even project manage the refurbishment of their own building, which says it all about their professional ability to manage anything that they touch.
• The large half-finished building on the left of the M4. This has been in this state for many years and KDM appear to have done nothing about it.
From the above record, then adding in your building, it is obvious that municipal officials live in their own little fairyland. Either that or they are just bone idle and lazy getting fatter on their inappropriately high salaries for doing nothing. Perhaps a complete rates boycott which would mean no salaries, would make them wake up.
We need realistic increases – letter from PH Maharaj: I agree with you 100%. The increases are, I would consider, merely to pay the incompetent municipal officials etc higher salaries. If you take the potable water situation across the country, this gives you a real picture of the ability of the ANC in regard to forward planning. They have no ability, and still after 22 years of their totally incompetent rule have the audacity to blame the white government that handed over a First World economy to the ANC, who have managed to wreck that economy and along with it, South Africa.
I know for example that in 2014, and prior to that, qualified engineers and many others were calling for desalination plants along the coast of KZN. We were told that this was vastly too expensive, yet the Western Cape under the DA have operational desalination plants in Sedgefield, Mossel Bay, Plettenberg Bay, and Knysna, all operating at acceptable costs.
Had the ANC cadres listened and acted, all the coastal areas in KZN would have had a full potable water supply, with the possibility to pump inland, and the inland water resources would have only served the inland areas. This group of comedians still ramble on about water from rivers and boreholes. Common sense tells any logically-minded person that rivers require rainfall to provide water for them to flow, and boreholes require that the aquifers and ground water also requires rainfall to fill them up to allow water to be extracted.
Only fools and idiots blame events of 22 years ago for their own total inability and incompetence to carry out forward planning. The ANC in their twisted wisdom have prevented the very people with the technical ability from applying that much required ability to solving many of the technical problems which are today having catastrophic effects on all the peoples of South Africa.
