LETTERS: What’s the big stink about?

As an avid traveller, living abroad for many years, it often fascinates me that a typical South African trait is to complain and often see the negative rather than the positive . . . the glass is half empty as opposed to half full.
Why should it be a negative that Tammy Colley is our new DA candidate? Her mother, Ann, being the previous councillor should be a huge bonus as she did a sterling job, which everyone seems to agree on, as is evident by her promotion to Provincial legislature. Tammy can only benefit from the advice and wisdom of many years experience her mother has to offer.
Nepotism? Two Bits worth clearly outlined the process in last week’s Courier and she was fairly selected without any help from her mother, so what’s the big stink about?
As a young member of our community I applaud Tammy for her stamina and guts to take on government and all the drama that goes along with it, good for her for trying to better our community!
A mother, a marathon runner, a wife . . . someone who will represent us all – with a backbone to boot. Let’s all stand together for once and support the ‘newbie’ until she gives us reason not to!
