LETTERS: Community does not want this candidate

As a member of the ANC, I cannot defy the correct positions of my party. My decision to represent the people of Groutville, ward 10, is as a result of a candidate imposed on us by our organisation.
The candidate was fined twice for assaulting two women, one with boiling water and other one with an iron, a cruelty the ANC ignored. Evidence was presented to the province but ignored. How will he be the champion of 14 Days Activism Against Abuse of Women and Children? The ANCWL was visible in support for Reeva Steenkamp but was silent on the candidacy of this chap.
His financier drew a pistol on us at an ANC meeting. I laid a charge and reported the matter to the ANC but I am still waiting for MEC Mxolisi Kaunda to investigate such conduct. Now I am a community candidate, I get a letter from the ANC accusing me of harassment.
The current councillor, Sbusiso Ngwane unearthed corruption in the allocation of housing but a certain “comrade official” says the people who come from outside Ward 10 were endorsed by the Public Protector. But he has not produced this supposed letter from Adv Thuli Madonsela.
The mayor cannot be silent on this corruption. We ask Mayor Mthembu to do the honourable thing: Give us letter from the Public Protector and remove the corrupt official.
We are a ward of Chief Albert Luthuli. What character of a councillor do we want?
As a candidate, I am not going to buy young people booze as is happening in my ward and Shakaville. Booze has never built young people and Chief Luthuli would concur with me. The ANC I love must stop demonising community-nominated ANC members standing as independents. I challenge Super Zuma and Sihle Zikalala to a public debate on the calibre of ward councillor Chief Luthuli would have liked to lead Ward 10. I will win the debate hands down.
