LETTERS: Now I understand protest!

Today is the day that I finally, perfectly understand the thinking as to why people protest.
It is out of pure unadulterated frustration! Frustration at having very real problems in communities that go unresolved and unattended or ignored.
The issue of vacant stands in Ballito that are unattended, overgrown, propagate alien vegetation, used as dumping sites, etc and amongst other things, most importantly present a big security risk, has been raised on many occasions.
Today was one of those days that brought this issue to light once again, and made me a very good candidate for becoming a prospective “protester”. Across the road from the complex wherein I reside, is a stand that is a typical example of what I have described.
“So what?” you may say!
Well, today, in the early hours of the morning, access was gained to the unit that is closest to the vacant stand and a burglary took place.
Could this letter be given attention by whoever should be keeping Ballito in some kind of well-kept state? This should be first priority to a long list of essential functions that are not being carried out. What is the taxpayer’s money being used for?
Our elections are over. I just pray that I have voted for the right party that will be privy to positive constructive change to fast-growing Ballito.
