LETTERS: Where is the loyalty to the employee?

I was waiting with baited breath for the disclosure of the name of the restaurant and manager who decided to keep the very good tip that was given by a TV presenter to a young man and lady who were waitrons at the restaurant, however, by the end of the letter, this had not been revealed although his mother said she was telling the world about what the manager did.
I, for one, would definitely blacklist this restaurant if I knew who they were – there are many, many restaurants in Ballito (and I am assuming Ballito) who have honest, hardworking managerial staff and not to name the one who is not honest leaves the public hanging. If they cannot afford bad publicity, they should make sure they are as honest and upright as the other restaurants and also make sure that tips, however small or large, go to the correct person for whom they are intended. The TV presenter tried to make sure this would happen by telling the manager she was giving this large amount for a tip, which obviously was the wrong thing to do and made dollar signs appear in the manager’s eyes. Such is the honesty, or dishonesty of people in charge of money, which the general public of South Africa is aware is happening all the time.
If a worker does his job and goes over the top to do more for a member of the public, which is obviously the case here, the restaurant should, in the first instance, hand over the tip and secondly should award the employee herself as the standard of waitering is high, rather than pocket the tip and then, to cap it all, give the employee the boot. Where is the loyalty to this employee who proves he is an exceptional waitron.
