Letters: Build confidence of police and community

With reference to the article on the new commander of the KwaDukuza police station (She’s the lady in charge, December 2), assist us to see that the police are going in the right direction, build the confidence of both staff and the community and bring more criminals to book.
Scrutinise other linked roleplayers. Tell all your staff that they are public servants and must put themselves in the shoes of victims.
I totally support her view that only through building a strong relationship with the community based on trust, that the station will succeed to achieve its mandate.
I am an almost 80-year-old senior citizen who has served on the community policing forum and now on the Stanger and District Association for The Aged (SADTA). Please, before the end of this year, come and address us on what protection you can afford us, especially relating to domestic violence, protection orders and Aids counselling.
