Letters: God’s gift in music

Ron was listening to Andre Rieu’s version of Leonard Cohen’s Halleluiah and was really moved. What a wonderful way to worship God!
He then wrote a sonnet about the day in 1979 when he received a wonderful gift.
THE GIFT
The day was bright ground full of dew
Chairs in a ring there was no pew
Clutching my mandolin to my chest
Anxious only hope for the best
Over there a guitarist sat
Was I to accompany that?
When all were seated in the round
And in the silence was no sound
One in the ring began to sing
Was no book screen or anything
The refrain then spread to the whole
Music God-wise deep from the soul
Suddenly I began to play
And God’s gift fell on me that day.
