Letters: Great response to appeal for help

Following my letter to The Courier recently, I would like to thank Ms Terensia of the Department of Environment, Mr Busani of the Department of Agriculture and Thembi of Kwadakuza Waste Management for promptly answering the call for help at Shakas Head.
Thank you for coming into the community to share knowledge, to raise awareness, to help with community clean-ups, to train in self-sustainable gardening, giving seeds, for offering training and helping with removal of invasive weeds, for offering to grow protective vegetation on stream banks, in donating fruit trees and having value adding programs which you are ready to share.
I was so encouraged to learn that these government departments have excellent programmes on offer for those who ask and are prepared to volunteer time and effort. I was honoured to meet you and find you passionate and enthusiastic for the job of improving our environment and helping those who are prepared to help themselves by providing training and tools.
There is much to be hopeful for and much to be grateful for.
