Mr Cas Steyn, what will Ballito be without you?
You are a true living legend sir, an honourable man who impacted the lives of many a young boy and girl. I’m sure I speak on behalf of many that your charismatic approach to life left an imprint on each of us and we will all be better for it in the long run.
Your old-school values and principles taught us humility and respect for one another and where possible, to reuse, recycle, reinvent or repurpose.
Thank you for all that you contributed to this community, your colourful stories and most off all – rugby. Some of my fondest memories are of barefoot rugby games on crisp winter mornings on the dew covered fields of Umhlali.
As I write this letter, I know of a few particular men who will be flying off to the Cape Town Tens to harness these skills in the modern game.
Although we have traded in leather balls for composite ones, your old-school values still remain and we salute you!
