In response to the letter “Move the taxi rank to the mall roof” (Courier, February 10), I would like to say that this idea of moving the taxi rank to the Ballito Bay mall rooftop is the most ridiculous idea ever.
The writer quite obviously does not live anywhere near the shopping centre, otherwise he/she would realise just how crazy this suggestion is.
One can see the issues relating to the current location of the rank, not only traffic issues, but also loiterers and vendors etc. and mess on the pavements. Would you like to live opposite a taxi rank?
I do empathise with the commuters. They do need a permanent rank with proper covered facilities, and they need it sooner than later.
