Your Two Bits of March 10 with reference to the hearing, strikes a chord in me.
Up until 2004 I could still hear, but after going into theatre about six times in six months the last vestige of my hearing simply disappeared. Today I have to use hearing aids in both my ears and although it helps it could never bring back my original hearing.
I have been to audiologists over the last 10 years and I must say that they simply see hearing-impaired people as milking cows. The last one promised me so much but was unable to programme my hearing aid when I went back to her after a month as arranged.
The moral of this sorry is, don’t believe everything an audiologist tells you. Choose a reputable and established firm. In my case I had to go to the South African distributors of my hearing aids to have them programmed and the best part is, they are right here in Durban.
