Letters: Jobs for car guards?

I have watched the upgrades to the Ballito Junction with mixed feelings.
Although I have lamented over the loss of the small town, personal vibe of Ballito I remind myself that the extensions to the Junction offer increased job opportunities, of which we are in desperate need.
I do, however, wonder if the management of the Junction has made arrangements for alternative employment for the number of friendly and helpful car guards that we have all come to know, some of whom know my husband, my daughter and me by first name?
At the end of this month booms will replace them and pay points and I will miss their friendly faces in the afternoon. I have asked a few of the guards what they are going to do, and they have told me that they have been told they have no job at the end of this month. They make an honest living with what they do and I would like to think and hope that the Junction will offer them alternative work within the mall as it opens. Any feedback in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

The open parking area of Ballito Junction Regional Mall will still be served by car guards following the launch of the expanded centre, and it is our intention to retain the services of the majority of the existing car guards who are currently employed on site.
