I would like to relate to you a wonderful experience my family and I had recently, after visiting some family in your neck of the woods!
We three elderly women and my intellectually disabled son left Ballito around 7am on the morning of March 4. I was driving, and decided to pop in to a service station to fill up before hitting the road through Ciskei. We were directed to Greenfields Service Station (Shell garage) where a cheerful petrol attendant assisted us.
Even before the tank was full, he came to tell me that we had a nail in the side of our back tyre! (Now, we were facing a 12-hour drive down south!) We unpacked the boot and he and two colleagues came to assist!
More disaster! These three big Zulu gents pushed and struggled and jumped on the wheel spanner (which bent in the end) to no avail – the nuts had been made far too tight! These lovely gents then used their own initiative, removed the screw and plugged the hole for us. We were not allowed to leave until they were satisfied that it was 100% satisfactory.
We travelled through some very remote areas of the Ciskei, even over a soil-eroded dirt road at one time, but that tyre held out and got us safely back to Plettenburg Bay.
Thank you so much gentlemen – God bless you for your wonderful assistance.
