Letters: Buy a classroom

The front page article of The Courier (April 14) covered the march of 2 000 people from all groupings wanting a cleaner government in South Africa and with that a better life for all.
On Page 3 there is an article about a local school needing more teachers to alleviate severe overcrowding, but to qualify for the additional teachers they need to have an extra classroom. The cost of a classroom is R28,391.
It seems to me, connecting the two stories, that if the marchers donated R14,20 each, this would pay for the classroom.
So, if the newspaper or perhaps the Ballito #Save SA organisers’ can establish such a fund, the school’s desperate plea can be met. As a practical measure, at local level, the affected children who are part of our community will have a better chance for a better life.
As one of the marchers, I pledge my donation right here and now.
