Letters: I believe in miracles

After leaving the shopping mall I headed home and, on arrival, discovered that I had inadvertently and negligently left my man-bag (filled with my most important licences, IDs, cards and cash) in the gent’s bathroom.

It was getting dark, anxiety overwhelmed me and I hurried back to the mall, praying all the while for a miracle – that it was still there, but alas it was gone! I spent the next hour with security personnel and after calling on all the shops in the vicinity, I headed back home very disconsolate.
I advised my family of this horrid loss and eventually when going to bed at around 10pm, my land-line rang.
The caller explained that after work and shopping he was on foot to catch a taxi home when he noticed a bag in the bush. He took the bag home and found my name and number and called me to give me the good news! The money was gone but everything else was intact.
The fact that he found it in the dark while all the people connected to me were praying for me, leaves me with no other conclusion but to regard this discovery as an act of divine intervention and therefore a miracle!
I met Elias the next day and duly rewarded him for his care and honesty and I felt motivated to share this beautiful story with as many people as I can, and to remind us that people like Elias do continue to exist especially in the difficult times we are living in.
God bless you Elias! You have shown a priceless and selfless act of kind and gracious help and fraternity to a fellow human being and I will cherish this for always.
