My Facebook and Instagram feeds have been showing a lot more wildly creative desserts over the past year or so.
It is quite apparent that this is the new trend sweeping across the restaurant industry. You just need to look at the loaded milkshakes being created.
This week I decided to try Holy Cow Coffee which just opened their second branch at Tiffany’s Shopping Centre in front of Clicks.
Their first branch opened at The Ballito Junction a couple months back.
They offer two exciting menu items – bubble waffle cones and coffee in a cone.
I’m a big fan of sweet treats so I was very much looking forward to this review. The venue is small and quaint.

They have an awesome selection of waffle cones available.
I had the Bee Hive – a waffle cone with custard ice-cream toffee sauce and mini Nestle Crunchies.
The waffles are outstanding with a good crunch and I just love the look of them. They are also not shy on the toppings.
The only drawback I found was that they need to be enjoyed as soon as possible.
A piping hot waffle filled with ice-cream will melt in a hurry. So I would not suggest grabbing some to enjoy at the beach, they are best eaten immediately.
As for the coffee in a cone, I am by no means a coffee expert/junkie but I can tell a good coffee from a bad one.
Their coffee cones are right up my alley, it’s pretty much a sugar cone with a layer of chocolate on the inside as the cup for a hot cappuccino.
For me, it is the best of both worlds as you get your caffeine fix with the chocolate to fix the sweet craving. Winner!
Their prices are not bad either, as most waffle cones are under R50. I was very satisfied with my experience.
