Perhaps, through the medium of your newspaper, I can get some support.
The issue I am addressing is a problem that all of us drivers are experiencing – driving between the N2 and R102 from Ballito especially.
Many drivers see this section past the Umhlali Country Club as a racing track. On both sides of this road there are residential homes, at the club and also at Caledon and Shortens. The traffic increases very regularly and queueing on both sides has become a problem.
The speed limit along this road is ignored and we residents are becoming quite fearful of this four-way intersection. We suggest either a circle or speed humps or a robot. Pensioners, young mothers with children on board and more have all complained about this danger.
The same applies to the intersection at the north-bound stop street where we turn either left or right or cross over the R102. The volume of traffic and speed of vehicles is frightening. We need a robot or circle or humps there as well.
The expression of these feelings is not a “want”. Rather it is a “need” and I appeal to the powers that be to attend to this matter as soon as possible.
