Letter: DOCRRA – much needs to be done

The Dolphin Coast Residents and Ratepayers Association has been accused recently of dragging its heels over the parking issue.

However, DOCRRA is still pursuing a clear explanation and justification from KwaDukuza Municipality regarding the proposed parking charges.

We have communicated with and written to the Mayor’s office and the municipal manager, but have so far not been able to set up a meeting for explanation.

Unfortunately, the municipal manager is in hospital and we wish him all the best for a speedy recovery.

We look forward to a full meeting with him when he is out of hospital – we understand – next week.

Nevertheless, for DOCRRA to be a truly effective representative of all ratepayers and residents in the Dolphin Coast area – NUMBERS MATTER – as with all issues and concerns in the New South Africa.

DOCRRA needs to be a lot more effective with all sorts of issues in our area and not just improvements in day-to-day service delivery. Our beautiful boardwalk and beachfront needs significant repair and reconstruction work.

Although SAPS Umhlali try their best, they are still too remote from the developing heart of the Dolphin Coast – and therefore we need a full police station in the centre of Ballito.

DOCRRA furthermore is concerned about the unsatisfactory traffic flow and many congestions in our area.

Something serious needs to be done about the uncontrolled crossing of our new 6-lane highway running through the centre of the Ballito shopping district – do we need a bridge or a tunnel?

We cannot have people knocked down on a regular basis as has been happening over the past month. Please see the accident stats.

Therefore we appeal to all ratepayers and bona fide residents to become paid up members of DOCRRA as the only official representative organisation for local and provincial government matters. The DOCRRA subs are R100 per household per annum – or R10 per household per month.
