Letter: Stealing from community

We have watched with amazement the looting through sand mining by some people in this area.

We are a non-profit organisation which deals with social justice issues. We have watched with amazement the looting through sand mining by some people in this area.

The land belongs to KwaDukuza municipality. We have reported the incidents to the ward councillor, but to no avail.

They sell the building and plastering sand to hardware shops and other construction businesses, yet the community is still living in poverty.

They are damaging the environment as they just mine anyhow, not paying any tax on the cash received.

I wish to appeal to law enforcement agencies to stop this rampant looting for self- enrichment and for the community of Ethembeni to organise and stop these individuals.

UMNYAKAZO WETHU

Ethembeni, Groutville
