Restaurant review: Bourbon Hub

Going through the menu I was very excited to see snack baskets, they have always been a firm favorite of mine.

Bourbon Hub has been open for a few weeks now in Mall 505, Salt Rock, and from the feedback I got about their opening, it was a resounding success.

I took one of my good friends and we headed there for lunch. It has a real relaxed vibe and has the feel of an up-market pub.

The staff were welcoming and friendly.

Going through the menu I was very excited to see snack baskets, they have always been a firm favorite of mine.

I went for the supreme snack basket – the waitress did mention they didn’t have meat balls at the moment but the chef came to our table and offered me battered hake instead, which I was happy with. My friend decided on a T-bone steak.

The basket contained a very generous portion – for R85 it’s a bargain. The pork ribs were tender and had a nice charred flavour, the chicken strips were nice and crispy and the samoosas fresh. All in all I was happy with it. I did order some tartar sauce to go with it, that finished it all perfectly.

The T bone steak was cooked to order so no complaints there and was tender.

The accompanying cheese sauce was also good.

While you can’t go there and expect fine dining, they pulled off a very good lunch.

My only real complaint was that the food was a bit slow, but is wasn’t an excessive wait. It’s a great place to grab a quick lunch with your mates or if you looking for a place to let your hair down on a Friday night.

They also offer pizzas, burgers and tapas. There is a pool table and a hooka lounge.
