The tidal pool has not been drained since it was restored after the big storm in 2007. It does not need draining as it washes out continually.
Before it was rebuilt the water did not drain out effectively, therefore needed to be drained from time to time.
Due to the way the pool and drainage system was reconstructed after the storm in 2007 it continually drains itself.
It would be very sad if they drained the pool for something that is not necessary and would kill the eco system in the pool that has taken the last 10 years to build up.
The leak that occurred a short while ago has been temporary fixed and even though it is still leaking slightly, it is not a problem. It can be fixed permanently without draining the pool and that is the plan at this stage. There are many other more urgent things to be done on our coastline.
