Judy Tate in her letter “Is Easter just a holiday?” (March 30) makes the mistake of saying “to the non-believer it is a four-day long weekend that people plan around annually”.
Firstly, what is Judy’s definition of a non-believer, because as a Muslim I also believe in this great man sent by Almighty God, Jesus Christ on the authority of the Qur’an – so how does that make me a non-believer?
On the authority of the Qur’an alone every Muslim is instructed to believe in all the great men sent by almighty God to their respective peoples viz. Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon, Jesus and finally the last and final of them all, Muhammad (peace and blessings upon them all).
Not a single one of these great men ever taught mankind to believe that salvation for mankind is achieved through shedding the blood of an innocent man. Rather Jesus Christ himself taught salvation was merely through repentance.
He went on to say: “…This is eternal life – that they may know thee the only true God and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.”
Nowhere in the Bible does Jesus ever teach that salvation is due through his death on the cross.
Not any of the prophets of the Old testament alluded to the teaching of the shedding of blood of an innocent man for the salvation of mankind.
Almighty God Himself says in the Bible that he will not kill an innocent man for the sins of others but rather, He will forgive the sinner if he turns and repents (Ezekiel 18: 18 – 20).
God says this because He is a god of justice and there is no greater justice than that which is prescribed by Him.
So according to Almighty God from the verse above it is the believing in the death of an innocent man who was sent to die for our misdoings (sins) that makes one a nonbeliever.
