Whether this error was due to ignorance on the part of Reed or just another example of the many typos to be encountered in the esteemed Courier, is irrelevant.
The Courier’s chronic inability to use the apostrophe correctly is a phenomenon shared by many newspapers including the Mercury and is probably the norm for the semi-literate persons employed by the print media.
Misspellings and poor grammar abound, often giving rise to hilarious constructions. This is from the Mercury on Friday April 13. Quote – Charlotte Marshall is pictured gingerly stepping onto the yacht Bellissima with her left foot holding bananas and King Neptune’s Trident. . .
