Letter: Which is the Salt Rock Centre?

The use of the name “New Salt Rock Shopping Centre” for the Mt. Richmore development has created confusion with the existing Salt Rock Shopping Centre.

Brian Carr of Salt Rock writes:

We are concerned by the increasing use of the name Salt Rock by entities outside of the boundaries of Salt Rock.

The Courier refers to a dispute between the new Salt Rock Centre and the KwaDukuza municipality (Salt Rock centre dispute turns ugly, April 20).

The use of the name “New Salt Rock Shopping Centre” for the Mt. Richmore development has created confusion with the existing Salt Rock Shopping Centre.

This confusion will also be experienced by the local authority staff who are called out to either of the shopping centres.

An example would be for the electrical department being called out to a fault at the already named Salt Rock Shopping centre substation only to find out that it was at the New Salt Rock Shopping centre.

We have experienced trucks delivering to the Mt Richmore development being directed down to Salt Rock only to find they have to turn around and head back out of Salt Rock causing traffic problems in the turn around.

We request in the interest of clarity to investigate what measures the local authority can take to resolve this issue.
