Letter: Safety units are needed now!

The loss of a life in any circumstance is devastating.

Councillor Tammy Colley of Salt Rock writes:

This week saw another brutal farm attack on an elderly couple from iSinembe.

Our government needs to establish an action plan sooner rather than later in order to curb this scourge on our society.

The loss of a life in any circumstance is devastating; however loss of life in such a traumatic manner leaves us despairing for the levels humanity has fallen to.

The Democratic Alliance has long called for the reintroduction of specialised safety units within the SAPS to deal with rural safety.

Farmers and their workers feed our nation and it is unacceptable that these attacks continue unchecked.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Govender family during this difficult time.
