George Grey of Ballito writes: I agree 100% with PH Maharaj and consider that the municipality considers Stanger etc and the Greater Ballito an endless money supply (So many increases, April 13).
Well, sorry to burst their balloon but the end of the money trail is just around the corner.
All increases MUST be within the inflation rate of 4% and the municipality must wake up and come back into the real world where the majority of the senior officials would be replaced by competent people.
The increases being asked for come without any explanation as to the following matters:
- Was the R10 000 000 gifted for the upgrading of the beaches etc by the Tongaat Hulett Group ever replaced after the SALGA Games in 2016?
- Who paid the outstanding municipal account valued at R16.80m run up by Ballito Bay Mall, being allowed to skip payments for some possible reason or favours?
- When is Ocean Drive going to be totally resurfaced?
- When is the Greater Ballito area going to get a main police station instead of depending on one hidden in the bush near Umhlali 14kms from Ballito?
Perhaps the derelict building next the Hirsch’s at the entrance to Ballito via the M4 could be made into a police station.
Those high increases are directly due to incompetence of senior officials, possible corruption and theft, and the lack of any realistic work ethic from all KwaDukuza municipal staff.
Where is DOCRRA in this matter, that group should be shouting out loud and clear NO to those proposed increases?
