Ballito resident Hilda Venter writes:
Tokkie Venter passed peacefully on Saturday, May 12 following an 11 month battle with prostate cancer.
Tokkie has been a member of the Ballito community for 24 years, after we moved here in 1994. He worked at the then Umhlali BMW as a petrol and diesel mechanic. He later moved on to open his own workshop at Greenfields, then to Lali Industrial Park, Umhlali in August 1997, where he served his clients until the end of February 2018.
Tokkie provided excellent service repairs to the greater part of Ballito and as far as Greytown and Umhlanga, with dignity, honesty and great pride. He was a humble man, wonderful husband, father and grandfather and he loved the Lord with his whole being.
He leaves behind a huge legacy of knowledge and wisdom. I want to take this opportunity to thank a few incredible people for their support and caring hearts during his 11 month battle. Herbert Njoni and Andrew Khoza, his loyal staff since 1994, thank you for being by Tokkie’s side all the time, through good times and bad, through thick and thin.
He always spoke about his loyal staff with the greatest respect. Thank you Sphiwe, our domestic worker, for your love and support. Dr Riaan Venter, Specialist Urologist at Netcare Alberlito Hospital, your incredible passion, compassion, your warm caring heart, your support and medical assistance for Tokkie says a lot about the man that you are.
You always ensured that he received the best care possible. Dr Steer, thank you to you and the trauma doctors, for trying your best.
The surgical ward sisters, nurses and attending staff who shed tears at the end, Tokkie called you his angels in white and blue. Thank you so very much. The Durban and Umhlanga Oncology Centre and Dr Rory Callaghan and Dr Narsai, thank you for your special care and support. Ballito Medical Centre, Dr Isaacs and Dr Ernst.
Claude Robert (ex landlord) you know what you have done to support us, thank you for your constant calls, support and prayers.
To Doves Funeral Service in Ballito and Greyville, you made everything easier for me and my children. Pastor Stephen Jacobs, his wife Pastor Maria Jacobs and the congregation that kept us in their prayers. He is survived by myself and daughter Yolande and sons.
A memorial service will be held on Friday May 25 at 11am at the AFM Church Ballito above Autozone.
