Bruni Ammann of Umdloti writes:
I understand very well that it is the “sign of the times” to develop more and more of our precious land along the coast.
But, those new buildings opposite Sibaya Casino are ugly and tasteless and lack any of the seaside charm we used to be known for – I am lost for the right words as to the design of these buildings.
I am not sure who was part of the approval committee, but I certainly would have told those architects to come back with designs that had some sort of character and charm – something that would enhance the current village of Umdloti.
The architects and developers should have complimented the Sibaya Casino in some similar fashion and continued with that style . . . instead monster buildings have been erected which do not belong at all on a pristine coastal stretch of land but would fit perfectly into downtown Johannesburg.
That precious land along the coast has been ruined forever! What a shame! I am not against any improvement within the community.
It really could have looked so much more pleasing to the eye if a little more thought was put behind the design. Sadly, you have lost the opportunity to enhance our beautiful coastline.
