Ballito mom Lizette Steyn received much support from the community after falling ill with encephalitis (inflammation on the brain).
Lizette, her sister Chantal and family write: We are overwhelmed and overjoyed, uplifted and encouraged.
The last six weeks have been the most difficult and yet most beautiful six weeks of my life. I have had the most unforgettable experience, I got to experience mankind at our best. All of humanity is inherently good and I got the privilege of seeing humanity’s awesomeness!
These last weeks I have experienced immeasurable kindness and generosity.
It is with a sad heart that I have to say goodbye to SA but with a VERY proud heart that I can tell people where I am from and what community looks like.
We have sooooo many people to thank – Lonneke Egersdorfer for setting up the go-fund me page, all the wonderful staff at Stanger and Victoria Hospital, all the ladies who brought us food and blessed us with wholehearted goodness, to IPSS Medical Rescue unit, you guys were amazing.
Thank you for the hundreds of calls, sms’s, WhatsApps, Facebook messages and shares! Everyone that prayed for this miracle and thank you to Leanne Rencken Mills for blessing me with a flight to Jo’burg.
There are so many thank you’s to be made, so please forgive us if we did not thank you personally! And last but certainly not least, thank you to each and every person who donated, from R50 to R15 000, Every penny helped. We received donations from England, New Zealand, Abu Dabi, America, Australia, China and the whole of South Africa and a lot from Ballito – wow!
Ballito, you have raised the bar! We can never ever thank you guys enough.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
