Letter: Still no licence

I am at an absolute loss as to what more I can do.

Denis Aspden of Salt Rock writes:

So, readers may recall my two previous letters on the subject of my driver’s licence saga (Six months waiting, January 11, and Driver’s licence saga #2, January 18).

Having been told to return on February 3 to collect my licence card, I give them an extra three weeks and I returned on February 27 – and you guessed correctly, no licence card!

The lady at the collections desk tried to phone the card production facility and nobody picked up. She then tells me there is a backlog of 600 000 cards (yes 600 000).

I am at an absolute loss as to what more I can do. Perhaps someone from the local traffic office can advise, but I am not holding my breath on that one.

Then the Gauteng traffic authorities want to institute driver re-testing at each five-year card renewal – what a joke.

Well it has taken the ANC 25 years to destroy our economy and to destroy most of the now so-called SOE’s (Eskom, SAA etc.) and much of the country’s infrastructure, so, perhaps if I am patient, I may get my licence card in another 25 years.

Think carefully about where you place your little X on May 8.
