Obituary: Time to say goodbye

The memorial service is on Friday, April 26 at 10am at the Ballito Gesinskerk (N.G Kerk).

Beloved choir and music teacher Marie de Beer passed away on April 15 after a brave battle with Alzheimers.

Born on 6 April 1940 in Kimberley, Marie moved to Ballito in 1981 and taught choir and music at Umhlali Prep School and from her home until 2016.

In her final years Marie developed Alzheimers but continued to play the piano in her church with unwavering dedication despite the physical challenges the disease posed her.

Her daughter Anne-Marie de Beer said that Marie had fought the disease bravely.

“We would like to thank Amanda, Elbe and all the dedicated carers at Picasso Retirement Home in Salt Rock for their love and kindness.

“They treated her with dignity and compassion, and we will always be grateful for that.

“We would also like to thank all the residents and their family members of Picasso Retirement Home for their love and support during this time.”

The memorial service is on Friday, April 26 at 10am at the Ballito Gesinskerk (N.G Kerk).
