Dave Williams of Ballito writes:
I would like to thank the woman wearing a striped dress who helped my wife in being taken through the procedure to renew her driver’s licence on Monday, March 9 at Verulam.
My wife had to go to Verulam twice, as on the previous Thursday her proof of residence was four months old.
The woman would not accept this as it was more than three months old.
A woman nearing 80 years old is unlikely not to have the same residential address and as this information is not used in obtaining a replaced driver’s licence.
I feel this could have been accepted, as travelling twice to Verulam is costing the country in oil/fuel and also contributes to global warming!
The phone number given to my wife to ask in about four weeks’ time when the licence replacement should have been completed was 031-3112954.
Well, for three days I have been trying to contact this number to thank for the good service given to my wife on Monday but had no success as the phone call was not answered.
It appears that there are some very good, helpful people at the renewal station but also some inconsiderate members who need replacement.
We go to Verulam to renew our licences as it is closer than KwaDukuza and has no tolls to go there and back.
