Letter: Clinic is understaffed

Ashraf Vadia of Stanger writes:

I have a five-month-old son and, like many other parents, we know that baby immunisation is a very costly expense hence we use our local clinics to help us.

We have a new virus, the coronavirus, and upon calling the Glenhills Clinic, an official stated that there is no real precaution that is actually being taken when it comes the virus, as they don’t have a bigger facility to put and separate everyone.

I then enquired about baby immunisation and he said it’s still the normal with around 50 people sitting and waiting because there is one nurse only who sees children from five years and below.

I think this is totally ridiculous and this is promoting contact of the virus to have babies or even children sitting all together.

Apparently they are understaffed so they cannot do anything about it.

I would like The North Coast Courier to ask them questions about this.

The clinic is part of the health department and they have given us strict warnings in terms of rules to follow, but their own local clinics can’t follow the rules, so the poor suffer in the end.
