Letter: M4 is nothing more than a racetrack

"Exiting our estate and trying to enter the M4 to go to Ballito is becoming an absolute nightmare and have no doubt that unless something is done about these speedsters there is going to be a serious accident sooner or later" - Mike Herring.

Mike Herring of Ballito writes:

We reside in Lazuli Estate right next to Hilltop and am really shocked at the way the M4 over weekends is being used like a racetrack with cars and motorcycles travelling at unrealistic speeds.

Since moving into the estate some 18 months ago and being a frequent user of this road, we have never ever seen any form of law enforcement and in fact I don’t recall ever seeing a policeman on this road.

Exiting our estate and trying to enter the M4 to go to Ballito is becoming an absolute nightmare and have no doubt that unless something is done about these speedsters there is going to be a serious accident sooner or later.

Lastly, the state of the road especially between Zimbali and Sibaya is also a major concern as the brush has grown well onto the road and in some places is scratching the side of the cars and not even the yellow line is visible in numerous places.

Hoping that your newspaper could put some pressure on the relevant authorities to take some action.
