Letter: Good Samaritans in need

"Agreeing to this, he sanitized my vehicle, following all Covid-19 protocol and informed his partner to follow us in tandem all the way to Ballito where they then waited while I safely got back on to the highway" - Chloe Malherbe.

Chloe Malherbe of Ballito writes:

On Sunday July 12 at around 3.30pm I was travelling along the N2 southbound near the Tinley Manor off-ramp when I began to experience car trouble.

I noticed the traffic police vehicle patrolling the highway and stopped to approach them for assistance. There was a male and female officer in the vehicle.

Once I had explained the situation, the male officer offered to assist me in locating the fault.

Due to the fact that I was travelling to Durban, he then asked if I would be comfortable for him to drive with me in the vehicle for a short distance to ensure there was no serious damage and that I would be able to safely continue on my journey.

Agreeing to this, he sanitized my vehicle, following all Covid-19 protocol and informed his partner to follow us in tandem all the way to Ballito where they then waited while I safely got back on to the highway.

I feel so silly to have forgotten to ask for both their names, but really wanted to commend (and recognise) both these incredible officers for going out of their way to assist me and reassure me whilst still maintaining such professionalism and kindness.

Thank you so much to these two amazing frontline heroes!
