Letter: Cool heads must prevail

"Government has never asked EFF for assistance with regard to physical protection of state property. Simply put, EFF is incurably racist" - Musa Mnyandu.

Musa Mnyandu of Groutville writes:

On Friday October 16 the country witnessed yet another ingredient to the unchecked escalation of racial hostilities that have the potential to plunge our beautiful nation into civil war.

The situation outside Senekal Magistrate’s Court was shameful.

It’s always been said that 2 wrongs can never translate into a right.

The ever provocative EFF flocked to Senekal ostensibly to “protect state property”.

We all know the real reason was to pick a quarrel with the farmers.

Government has never asked EFF for assistance with regard to physical protection of state property.

Simply put, EFF is incurably racist.

In the same vein, white farmers need to desist from using the tragedy of criminal attacks on farms to racialize society, and to deepen white-people’s resentment of black people.

Farm attacks are not racially motivated.

They are a microcosm of a crime-infested society, a society in which criminals continuously display scant regard for the sanctity of human life.

One can only hope that cool heads will prevail.

We need to stand together as society. Most certainly, we need to stop viewing social challenges through racially-tinted lenses.
