I just want to express my disappointment at the lack of coverage of Covid-19 safety measures which are now blatantly being disregarded on the North Coast.
Over the last few weeks, there has been a significant, noticeable change in people’s habits, namely:
1) No sanitation measures being implemented and no masks being worn in taxis. The taxi industry is a law unto its own once again!
2) People walking along the roads to work or waiting on pavements at gathering points to be picked up by company transport are not wearing masks.
Previously, people wore masks around their necks and put them on when they got into vehicles and bakkies etc.
I would have thought that with the seriousness of the pandemic and what we see happening with resurgence of the virus in Europe that the North Coast Courier would have monitored and given coverage on the important aspect of safety measures during the Covid pandemic.
Quite disappointing, as I do believe that the press does have a significant role and influence in sensitising the public, with or without naming and shaming sectors or companies etc.
