Letter: Cruelty and suffering

"I traced the owners and saw luxury vehicles parked in the driveway of a grand home" - Judy van der Westhuizen.

Judy van der Westhuizen of Ballito writes:

This week a tiny (under 2kg) Maltese Poodle was euthanized after spending time at the vet, awaiting owners to claim.

On closer inspection it was confirmed that this little dog had lived a life of hell.

An inverted eyelid (causing damage to the cornea), cataracts on both eyes, a long-term ear infection, matted fur and mammary cancer in all her teats.

The vet confirmed that she must have been a breeding dog and that she’d endured a lifetime of suffering.

I traced the owners and saw luxury vehicles parked in the driveway of a grand home.

I am appalled that people are so heartless and realise there are many who just don’t care.

This is the worst case of cruelty I’ve experienced in a while and unfortunately people get away with it.
