Letter: You deserve better

In the month of December, the greater Ballito area had about 16 power outages. January has not proven much better with 13 occurring. It is not only inconvenient, and disruptive, it is also costly when you are trying to run a business, and the constant power surges certainly can damage appliances.

You deserve better!

Yes, you do. In the month of December, the greater Ballito area had about 16 power outages.

January has not proven much better with 13 occurring. It is not only inconvenient, and disruptive, it is also costly when you are trying to run a business, and the constant power surges certainly can damage appliances.

The budget did not adequately cater for repairs and maintenance in the 2020/21 financial year.

This must be addressed in the adjustment budget process.

Adequate maintenance budget will ensure that basic service delivery takes place where it is needed.

An effective ongoing maintenance programme and audit of the electrical infrastructure must be done.

It cannot be right that a municipality the size of KDM continues to patch repair the grid.

Many of our streets are still in darkness, despite the numerous promises of repairs to the streetlights.

The budget must be spent on actual service delivery that is tangible to residents.

It really was fantastic to see a team of community members banding together and cleaning the overgrown verges and grass that has encroached onto the tar. Freda Avenue and Edna Road have never looked so good!

We all want the same outcome.

A clean, safe living environment in which to bring up our families.

The DA applauds and encourages all those active citizens who participate in their communities and are doing their bit to make the place they live a safe, clean and healthy place to live and work.
