Letter: Congrats withdrawn

"This essentially highlights the lack of any meaningful or strong leadership in our municipality as no one knows Who's Who in the ANC Zoo" - Vaughan McDonnell.

Vaughan McDonnell of Salt Rock writes:

At the Mayoral Imbizo held at the Salt Rock Library on November 10 last year, I congratulated the mayor for attending as in the past, mayors seldom attended their own Imbizos.

Then secondly for her attention to the problems being raised, her taking of copious notes and interaction with the officials who were also in attendance.

Alas, I have to withdraw my congratulations as 3 months later virtually nothing has happened.

A small effort was made on some potholes but the shoddy workmanship together with the dumping of rubble on the pavement forced pedestrians to detour via the road.

This essentially highlights the lack of any meaningful or strong leadership in our municipality as no one knows Who’s Who in the ANC Zoo.

It was interesting to hear a political analyst being interviewed on TV recently on the subject of dysfunctional municipalities where he made a statement that where the DA have been given the chance to govern, they have done a better job.
