Thandi Ngcobo of Palm Lakes Family Estate writes:
Thank you for publishing my letter on how the complexities associated with waste build-up in our area suggests a need for waste management that addresses the problems in a sustainable manner.
Lest I get into trouble with councillors in Groutville, please correct an error in the section on councillors caused by the editing of my original letter.
I did not approach any of the councillors, but did make an effort to discard the effort after one of the people I discussed the matter with suggested I approach the waste manager regarding the matter, believing that the councillors may not have the necessary capacity for tackling the problem.
Lastly, please note that my reference to informal settlements referred to human settlements, not farming settlements, that resulted from the uncontrolled division of land by yesteryear small scale sugar cane farmers in an effort to address the economic challenges the closing of neighbouring sugar cane mills brought about.
