Ward 6 Cllr Tammy Colley writes:
Youth Day remembers the tragic events that took place in Soweto on June 16, 1976.
This should serve as a reminder that a society underestimates the youth at their own risk.
Young people have ideas that are innovative, creative, and they should be listened to and included in decision-making that will affect their future.
The IEC held a Party Liaison Committee meeting to touch base on the November 2021 local government elections outcomes.
The percentage of voter participation from registered voters was really an eye-opener.
The highest percentage of voter participation came from the 18 to 19-year-old age group at 86.58%.
What this means is that of all the voters registered in that age group, more than 86% actually came out to cast their votes.
This is encouraging, and we need to work hard to keep them engaged.
Voter registration is an ongoing process. If you would like to register locally, please contact me at 082 894 7808 or tammycolley3@gmail.com and I will gladly assist.
