KwaDukuza municipality DA caucus leader Tammy Colley writes:
In a council meeting on June 28, a report from the Audit and Performance Audit Committee was presented for the 3rd quarter ending March 2022. It is concerning that the findings by the committee are repeat findings.
Although recommendations and remedial actions are proposed by the committee, it would appear these are treated as suggestions as opposed to an action plan to achieve the clean audit the municipality is striving towards.
Repeat findings include non-submission of evidence required to audit, especially in relation to performance management.
This despite the development of a policy for consequence management.
The question then arises: why is there a reluctance on the part of business units to submit this?
The Democratic Alliance in KwaDukuza will continue to monitor and scrutinise these reports which are presented to council and offer solutions where possible. We are committed to ensuring public funds are used responsibly.
